Connor Brown has just a fantastic shift and Jack just blabs through the entire sequence.

Has anyone heard if Ceci is hurt? He is slower than usual and seems to have no power in his first few strides.

Kulak and Vinnie are a concerning pair. I am not sure what a better option is but it is scary when they are on the ice.

I am a pretty big Bouchard defender but that one is 95% on him. When he has the puck on the boards with only minor front pressure it should be an easy zone exit.
He bobbled it, allowing the turnover, and it left Ekholm hung out to dry.

I cannot believe Kane almost took out McDavid falling into his leg. That would have been the icing on the turd cake for how Kane has performed this season (since he was back for injury actually).

Yeah Bouch eye off the ball there. Wonder if he was picturing the end of the season seeing McDavid looking injured going off. Lol

Tough game for McDavid so far. Lot's of bobbles and missed passes. Not his usual self, even before the clip on his leg

Agreed, need to have a shot from that distance and angle. Overall he has had a decent game so far, made a lot of good saves.

Again, the Oilers seem to be outplaying a team, definitely out chancing them, and losing. They need to find a way to start scoring 5 V 5

Torts is going full Lemaire with the trap. Hard to get any flow with 4 guys across the blueline.

Patience, D that collapse to the net and counter punching is kryptonite for our team still. We love to make the biggest brain farts to ensure we allow AAA chances against if the other team is patient. We're also terrible at penetrating a team that collapses to the net. Teams that defend around their net well pretty easily keep our shot quality poor 5v5

Bouch and Ek just clueless on that one. I think we might have infected Ekholm now. He's been an Oiler too long. Can we loan our D to another team that can play defense and then take them back at the deadline?

No Cups

So much for this fortune-changing defensive structure that they've been working on.

This team isn't going to do anything this year, playing the way they are. I know they'll round out eventually, but that Nashville game could have and should have been a lot closer as well.

Not very impressive, Woodcroft and crew.

Very true. Got me thinking; perhaps the Oilers 5 V 5 ineptitude is due to them allowing the other team to control the pace and flow.
They seem to be stubborn in attacking style and it would be good to see some old school dump and chase. It would force the D and rest of the trap to be a little more on their heals and creates chance on the forecheck.
Also, like a play action in football, it allows for easier direct zone entry down the road if D are worried about the dump and chase beating them

Just the fact this team felt they had to announce how they would change from one rigid defensive strategy to another one probably should have been a bigger red flag to fans and media. How about just adapting as a team and not repeatedly doing stuff that can easily be exploited by the opposition? We can't do that? We certainly couldn't during the playoffs. If you can't adapt on the fly, no single pre-announced strategy change is going to solve your problems.

Eat it Flyers. You allow a partial breakaway. We can do better and allow a totally clean one.
