Juri Kurri must have had a big hole in his schedule if he flew from the other side of the world for this.

A successful starfish by Nurse at one end leads to a 2 on 1 that beats a bad starfish at the other.
I oftener complained about this defensive maneuver but Nurse has used it with success many times in this young season. Perhaps Russell was the problem, not the starfish. I will keep tabs on this development but I might be converting to team starfish.

That is the fastest period I have watched this year. NJ is a pretty fast, fun team.

The starfish: 74% of the time it works half the time! The other 63% of the time you're wildly out of position with no chance to get back in the play.
Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

I think the key is the sliding starfish combined with a poke check. In hindsight I likely should have dubbed Russell the Snow Angel given he was often stationary and flailing all 4 limbs around.

Pace the team is playing at now vs the first couple weeks is like night and day. Hope this keeps up.

This comment didn't age well, as the Devils score off a puck trickling through Skinner....

Skinner has made a lot of decent saves but that wasn't a great goal.

The Barrie niemo pair is so terribly out of sync all the time.

Not sure what they were thinking to allow that guy to just walk in between them. The space between them was wider than the Grand Canyon.

All I saw was Drai still standing at the face-off dot as Bratt was shooting. He could have picked a guy up too.

That is an odd take. There is no way that Bratt is the centerman's job there. Once the face off goes back to the Devils blue line Drai would have to turn and skate away from the play at full speed to mark Bratt.
That is 100% on the D pair standing flat footed 30 feet apart and watching the puck/play instead of reading the play and taking Bratt.
Seems you were focused on Draisaitl. If so you would see him turn with #13 as soon as the puck starts traveling towards the Oilers zone. That guy would be the trailer and would be his responsibility has D done their part.

Yeah the one angle showed that MN didn't even play that neutral, he moved/cheated outside and basically handed downtown Broadway to Bratt. Tied late, I think you take that man every time.

Well, there is a war going on that's kind of opening up some time for him.

Agreed, Niemo played the potential pass/dump up the boards instead of taking away the centre lane. But as a team, if you want to play run-and-gun hockey, you better put the puck in the net. How many did they miss?
