There's an untimely pinch and no back coverage for a 3 on 1 goal against.

Yikes, that's an old look that's returned momentarily.

Yeah, not sure why Smith was barking at Ceci after the 3 on 1. (At least that’s how it appeared)

He was the only guy who bothered to be back wasn't he? I'd say at least 3 Oilers effed up to give up a 3 on 1 and Ceci wasnt one of them. Darnell, Kane, and either Connor or whoever was on the other wing. Darnell with horrible timing and then Kane steps up in a double pinch sort of on the left side. Rec hockey.

1-0 is pretty darn good given how that period went. Let's kill this early 5-3 and hope Colorado sits back a bit after such a strong start.

I'm not positive why we're still playing Smith for a fourth game in a row. Has Woodcroft not learned from watching Tippett's deployment that neither of these guys can handle a big load? It's just asking for trouble in my eyes.

At roughly 3:30 Kane destroys MacKinnon, then waltzes in and almost notches his 4th.

Is there a fwd out for the Oilers?

Curious why Nuge and LD are out the last 2 shifts together.

I think the leash has just been short for McLeod on Drai’s wing. Could be wrong tho

I would consider a Kane-light if possible. Likely won’t have to decide anyway.

It’s never been more obvious what was needed up front now. Too bad there wasn’t something similar coming up in the system.

In a vacuum, certainly. The man has been worth 3 w's since he was signed at least imo, difference maker.

Unrelated, team NHL in their Colorado striped away jerseys is pretty keen on making a mark on this game.

In all honesty the signs were there, no?

Maroon provided it. Lucic was brought in for it… it’s not that shocking the success that type of player finds with McDavid. Just hope it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and a torso.

Doc not returning to this one… as much as I’ve ragged on him and his soon to be cap hit, he is a very important piece to this team and hope he is only being held out as a precaution

I wish I could skate like McLeod. Man if that kid could find a bit of offensive savvy and just a bit more physicality when he fills out a bit more...he's all over the place out there tonight. Effortless skater.

I wasn't sure I agreed with McDavid on the breakaway non-call. Yes, he got a little slap from Girard, but it was one hand on the stick. Compared to a lot of the non-calls this year, that wasn't much. I don't mind them showing a little frustration about it though. Didn't hurt us in the end anyhow.
