That there pretty much sums up our season.
Get a great chance at the other end but hit post, then the other team scores on their first shot of the game shortly afterwards.

Did Smith just celebrate a save?

Is it the shoot out? Am I having a stroke?

I mean seriously - on the outside looking in, an incredibly important 2 points that they HAVE to have. And you go with Smith again? I don’t know what to say other than “lol”

Huh. I thought it was a 7 pm game. I guess it’s ok for me not to show up for game time. I was in a meeting until 6.

I’m worried this team simply isn’t very good. Or smart.

Smith lets in the first 2 shots on net. Hilarious. The Oilers poor results are entirely self-inflicted. What are chances that Tippet calls out the Battler in the post game press conference like you know he would if Koskinen was in net?

Zero? It's zero isn't it?

Oilers Goal Differential
17/18: 234 GF / 263 GA (-29)
18/19: 232 GF / 274 GA (-42)
19/20 (82 game pace): 257 GF / 254 GA (+3) in 64 games
2021 (82 game pace):269 GF / 235 GA (+34) after 38 games

This is CLASSIC OILERS.

Skinner is on a roll and told he will start the game. Until that is, hours before the game starts, Mike "The Battler" Smith pulls rank and says he wants to start. Tippett, obviously already forgotten last night's performance, goes along with it. And then like clockwork, Smith lets the first 2 shots in because, well, he really sucks.

Tippett is so cliche when asked about his goalie having a bad game. Blames the team.

By "his goalie" I just mean Smith of course. Other goalies, he is happy to take a dump on them.

No one, literally no one, could have ever predicted that it would be a bad decision to go back to the well with Mike Smith.

Gregor carrying all the water for the team tonight. Says coaches have to follow their gut and then that Smith is carrying the team so far tonight.

Jones not de-Oilered enough to fulfill the ex-Oiler curse. Shot that puck directly into the glove

Yeesh just joined this in time to see our soon to be 9 mil dman hand the puck over for a gold plated chance against.

Interesting deployment once again in goal given last night. Other blender moves up front and on D. We're exploring the limits of what it takes to get a coach fired, looks like.

Is it really THIS hard to play like you're getting millions of dollars to shoot a puck and skate well?

I swear that this Oilers org should have a motto under the logo reading.... "le sigh... it's just soooo hard... where's my chai latte?"

I'm almost at the point where you start considering trading one of your two bigs to flush out the depth of this team. And of the two, I'd trade Connor.

Holy crap, did Jack & Lou get marching orders regarding Smith?

Sure he’s been good since the first 2 goals, but do we need to be reminded every time he turns away a puck?

I also think it would be fascinating to see Chiarelli as the GM of Chicago. I would be significantly less worried that we lose the next trade with the Blackhawks...although Holland is a bit of an X-Factor there. He might be able to make Panicky Pete look good...
