Bouchard pinched, JP didnt cover, Smith didnt battle enough to shut the 5 hole.
At least it was the 3rd shot against instead of the 1st!

Oilers look like frigging training camp in terms of looking after the puck.

Tyson Barrie assassinates a shin pad and gives up a breakaway for a 2-zip deficit. Disjointed effort tonight.

Barrie shoots it right into a PKers shin pads, lets that guy get behind him, then loses the trailer causing a 2-0 PK breakaway that the Knights bury.
Still gonna play 1:55 on every PP going forward.

Nope, I've let that guy ride off into the sunset and don't give a damn what he's got to say.....but on review, I'd rather hear him talk than Principe, Spec, or Stauffer, who looks pretty close to a coronary.

This team can't wait 5 games while Smith gets into game shape. Stauff is right about 19 already having two wins against Vegas... Tippett getting out coached...

3-0.
Regardless if they stop the GA’s, I doubt they can muster 3 scoring rushes tonight to tie this up.
They should try scoring on the rush. Failing that, try scoring on the rush.

Carolina doesn't like players that suck 5v5 and need to play with top 2 talents to look useful unfortunately :(

I know we're supposed to ignore everything we learned playing hockey growing up when watching the Oilers...but when was the last time the fastest guy on your team never back checked?

Ha ha ha...people who blame the Oilers' suck on McDavid are just wrong.
Smith - battling to make a save. Jack Michaels - battling to be over-positive.
Also, what are the odds that Smith is done again after tonight?

Battlebot mode not activating anymore.
I’m wondering if he makes it to the 3rd period.

Defencemen that can't play defence, but actually irrelevant because they can't score a single goal.
Even Duboor knows this.. he saved his starting goalie for Calgary tomorrow night, he's telling you what he thinks of the Oilers.
See no reason to aquire at the deadline, this team is more than a piece away from competeing against legit NHL teams, not going anywhere even if they squeek into the playoffs. Even McDavid isn't enough of an antidote for this poison.

Not even sure how Mike Smith let that one in.
Does he finish the night above .800???

Edmonton media wags wagged boney fingers for a couple games when Koskinen did that similar trick a little while back. That’s not rust. Lol.

Oops, the tried and true 'loading up' fails miserably with a goal against in roughly 10 seconds in to the 3rd.
Good choice to start Smith, Tip. LTIR is calling, they want their goalie back.
Oilers have 3 guys who can change game tone physically, nada.
Pretty weak effort from Smith out. Might be one of the worst puck managed games of the year, sloppy AF. The PP needs to be put out of its misery.
With little time for practices, mediocre goaltending, and a coach whose ideas in terms of deployment seem to defy logic a lot of the time, this condensed upcoming schedule looks pretty deadly for this club. They have to be miles better than tonight throughout the lineup.

Nothing wrong with the guy...and you're right. Starting at the top:
1. Ownership is absent after bilking the taxpayers
2. The President is a Hockey Canada chump
3. We've got people "not involved in hockey" that are still lingering
4. We're on our 3rd GM of the decade that doesn't understand the modern game/cap value
5. We've dusted 2 of our 4 1st overalls
6. We have a blackhole in net even though it was the most glaring need this off season with $20m+ of cap space.
7. We gave away promising young Dmen in Petry/Bear and had Klefbom injured forever
8. Our coach would have been fired a few games ago, but because our goalie put in a 0.930sv%+ that night he's still here
9. Should we even talk about our scouts that haven't seen a pro player or draft pick outside of the 1st round excel in a very long time?
10. Oh...and we decided we were the team to turn EK around.
Anyway...I thought I'd be more positive and focus on the fact we have the two best centers in the league that succeed some nights despite the above (and more). It does baffle me though why CM97 doesn't back check considering our other weaknesses. It's probably because he has to play 27mins a night and we haven't had a structure to this team in recent memory that he could just do his job instead of being responsible for everything.
Man I'm a downer tonight.

I was thinking the same thing. 3rd and 4th lines out to close out the game.
Even Sportsnet couldn't bring themselves to name Oilers in their Fake Three Stars.
