The Oilers should consider earning some points, I think it would really help them in the standings.

I knew that they were sliding obviously, but hadn't actually looked at the standings in a while. They really are on the verge of going from tops in the league to out of a playoff spot in the span of a month.

The score prediction contest is super optimistic today. I don't see how this isn't going to be a murder.

Well, Draisaitl is going to play approximately 45min tonight so the Oilers just need to weather the storm for the other 15 and they should be totally fine.

At least we know it was all the fault of Samo and Kostko. Always feels better to know the exact reasons things go wrong.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

It's rise up night in Toronto. Smiddy has had enough of you people talking about his old man hips and old man knees and old man ankles and old man slipping in the shower when he sneezed causing his old man back to go out. He's battling to shut out tonight. It's them against the world and brother, you're the world.

1 regulation win against Toronto in last 10 games should be enough to wet any optimism, but Matthews drawing in now with McDavid and everyone else out, you almost wonder if it's worth playing the game.

Of course, this will be one of those games where the puck bounces the roght way 9 times out of 10 and the clowns in charge take that to mean "a tweak or two and we're right there!"

Why IS this game being played? I thought the NHL postponed all Canadian games? Was that just in AB and QC?

Not sure exactly why I'm tuning into this - it's going to be an absolute slaughter. Maybe I'm a masochist. I'd be surprised if we get within 4 goals of the Leafs.

Leafs and the matter too much. The Oilers and their gate matter much much much less. Much less.

I asked by buddy at Sportsnet and he said it was decided based on three things;
- Canadian teams didn't want to be off for long stretches then have a compressed schedule.
- NHL doesn't want to shut down a portion of the league when the rest is close to normal. Again, causing a scheduling nightmare.
- marquee matchups were kept if possible as the network drives a lot of ratings off of those.
