Some of the best depth they’ve had all season

I think you guys have covered all the roster moves but here is a summary per Stauffer.
Marody recalled from @Condors
Griffith recalled from Bakersfield
Niemelainen placed on IR
Russell moved to LTIR
Keith into COVID protocol
Too bad about Niemelainen. I was really liking his style and quality of play so far.
Russell? I hope he recovers but I think he has used up all of his magic performances as an Oiler.
Good for Marody. It will be a pretty dire situation though if he has to be in the lineup.
Keith? COVID protocol? What a surprise.
Seth Griffith seems to be playing much better lately in Bakersfield lately, at least as far as points and +- is concerned.
Stay tuned for further developments.

I don’t know how the NHL doesn’t press pause in the coming days. This is getting ridiculous. I see people like Adrian Dater and David Staples whining about this but if the NHL pushes forward and plays players who have positive results and then they develop Long Covid issues and lose their careers as a result then the league is potentially liable. I can’t see them taking that risk.
With the China games coming apart at the seams, the NHL can use those couple weeks to catch up.

NO Puljujarvi now? Crap.. did he test + in USA? If so what are the Canadian gulag requirements? 2 weeks?
What's the cut off for when a team is allowed to cancel games when their rosters get reduced? Its an advantage to cancel games if you are left with a weak line up to ice, so someone has to make the call.. Bettman? Calgary cancelled, then assigned more players to the covid list, seemed odd at the time, almost like they were holding back on some testing until their games were officially cancelled.

Part of me believes the League is holding the ‘pause’ button hostage over the Olympic break. Players want to go to the Olympics? We can’t pause the season and have that occur. Bargaining tool for them, I’m sure.

Part of me thinks that his test came back from yesterday’s tests prior to leaving Edmonton? Maybe. Hopefully?
Last season his test was a false positive, right? I remember him only missing the Montreal game and being back for the next one a few days later.

At some point we have to ask the question about pro sports in general.

It seems like this is how omicron works. Gonna spread through those without boosters every bit as easily as the unvaxxed, so unless society at large says “so be it - we’re going to take our chances” (it won’t), sports is going to have to carry the torch again and shut down for a bit.

Hyman’s shoulder hopefully doesn’t have the omicrons but you never know.

Seems crazy that with all the postponements of late that the oilers now have what is considered an outbreak (4th most cases in players I think I saw) yet they’re being trotted out and forced to play shorthanded. Wild to me.
