Well hopefully they show up to this one bc the Must has picked up steam in the desert.
Sigh. I remember when this team was a good road team.

They took the night off last night, so tonight has to be a solid effort.. Worried about our d though.. I'd let Skinner take the reigns again, he was one of the few who shown up last night.

If you could pick a team to play while your whole LHD group is messed up, I guess this is the team.

Can someone let Nuge know that while it's great that he has all these assists, mostly assists on the PP, he does need to score a few goals here and there. 1 goal in 18 games is a 5 goal pace over 82 while playing the wing with the current NHL scoring leader, past scoring champ and league MVP. He's got 12 PP points and 1 short handed goal so that's 6 - 5 on 5 points. They need a little more.

Lagesson in for Keith, who is day today.
Day to day is very vaguely defined in the Oiler universe.

I hated the trade for Keith, but not the player. And I thought he had actually looked pretty good this year. This is a big loss. Not as big as Nurse, but it sucks.
Without those 2 guys, we might be able to go 2-2 in our next 4 (ARI, VGK, PIT, SEA). That wouldn't be terrible. That gives them another 11 days from today. Hopefully they're both back by then because we then go on a 10 games in 18 night stretch.

I can't remember a stretch in a real long time where the Oilers have had this many injuries to 1 position. Losing your 3 best left shot dman in a span of a week is pretty brutal. There has been times where they had a guy on each side out but not your entire 1 side all at once.

I hope it isn't a Mike Smith type "Day to Day"
It looked like he tweaked a groin, or some core muscle, might be a while.
Keith has been solid, he and Ceci have been a great 2nd pair D, got a lot better as the season progressed.
I expected another call-up but I guess there is only one more road game, or .. its a + sign they think that Keith won't be out long.
UPDATE: Tippet says its an UPPER body injury, which is weird because from the TV clip, no one was near him to cause a UBI. Maybe a wrist?

Looked like he was favoring his left side when he got to the bench and trainer was talking to him. He sent a quick pass over to his right. Wonder if he tweaked something in his ribs or shoulder/delt/lateral muscle making that play.

Looks like Koskinen gets the start tonight, which I think is the right move. Skinner has been fine, but no need to play the guy into the ground.

I'd be worried if he wasn't shooting ~ 2.5 %. He should have 8 at minimum this year, some dead to rights chances including 5v5. He'd have 4 or 5 of he was shooting at a career percentage. I'm liking the output actually because he generally performs better later in the season than earlier. But whatever.
What if LD didn't have a 30% shooting percentage? Where would the club be? His career is around 17%.

There’s always ebs and flow.
What if the Flames goalies weren’t god like this year? Where would that club be?

Yup, Oilers score first, they win this game. Foot on gas out of the gate. If they go down early....I'd say tough sledding.
The Oilers should be cognizant of where they sit personnel wise here. Urgency early, they can't let AZ hang around and maybe capitalize on a defensive error or a soft goal. The goal should be to demoralize AZ early. Should be well rested after last night.
Uh oh fist line hemmed in lol.

My god that looks terrible. Even the forward group - that’s about as bad of a deployment as one could come up with with that personnel.

Hmmm...so is the TIppett thinking that if he thinks a team will be easy to beat, he feels he only needs a 1 line team to win?
Forget trying to help the D out by balancing the forward lines. Just 1 line it to an easy win, who cares what happens with McDrai off the ice, obviously that 1 line will easily rack up the goals to make up for it.

Yeah let's experiment with chemistry throughout the lineup, not just on every pairing on the back end....
