Need to get back to the W column. Absolutely need these next 2.

Any chance of an open window is slammed shut without a capable puck stopper. Can we just have some entertaining games?

I'd expect Smith to get the start and it's a much needed start. I am not a Smith fan but Koskinen is way better when there is a legit threat of someone taking starts from him. Tippet has a history with Smith, he likes Smith so he will give Smith starts.

I was thinking they start Smith tomorrow and give Koskinen a chance to rebound from Saturday’s crap show.

They could do that too. They are going to split regardless I assume. I do wonder if Tippett would want to get Smith in right away to make sure the team has a lift. Lots of talk about how quiet the teams main guys are but Neal and Smith are on of the more vocal guys that help get guys going. I could see this Ottawa game being one of those let down games we saw in the past. The team comes off a tough loss to a good team. A loss where they probably could/should have won but didn't because of a few key issues. Markstom let in 4 but stood on his head for a lot of that game. It should have been 3 or 4 to 1 after the first. So I could see the team coming into a game they should win easily and piss it away. Happened lots in the past. Smith would come in fired up.

The roster has been pretty difficult to predict this year. I've pretty much given up on trying to guess what Tippett will do. I do hope that it is not Bouchard who's pulled out from the defence after that loss. One glaring error from him, but A) that was all caused because his partner gave away the puck and got out of position himself and B) I think a lot of the other play from Bouchard has been pretty solid.

Tipp must be itching to get his favorite guy in there. I'd be impressed if he could hold off for another day.

Yeah, from the twitter world it looks as though Smith is the planned starter tonight (first off ice for skate this am).

Also, Haaaaaas did not participate (again). Sigh.

I don't mean to make this sound like an excuse for Kostko, but I wonder how he feels knowing that his coach is always going to be looking for any opportunity/excuse to play the other guy.

Maybe it's a motivator for Kostko like RDO suggests. But it must also be pretty annoying knowing the bias is hovering over the job.

Agreed, but with his performance Saturday, despite starting all but 1 game so far for reasons out of his control, he allowed the door to be open for Smith to take the reigns. The Oilers need one of them to make a save. And frankly, at this point, I don’t care which one it is. If it’s Smith, great, if it’s Koski, great. If it’s neither? We’re not making playoffs.

Seems like the org activated Stauffer and the MSM to put Mikko on notice after Saturday - can not recall ever hearing Stauff dump on a player as hard as he did. And the Terry Jones hit-piece (though fairly deserved) was over-the-top aggressive.

Not sure why Holland didn't have a better plan B after Markstrom. The wheels coming off the Oilers goalie bandwagon was the most predictable narrative ever.
