Time to expose Toronto’s slow D and outscore our deficiencies.

They didn't allow a series of glorious scoring opportunities and had some good energy. Light years ahead of the previous two games.

Besides one extended shift in their own zone, I don’t see many negatives. Koskinen looking big in net. 14/15/39 line containing Tavares line. Barrie skating well. McDavid had a couple decent rushes. Chiasson just failed to pot one.

Glass half full.

Will the Leafs retire 97 when Big Joe retires? Hard to think of a recent player who's done more for the franchise.

Amazing how often the guys who are constantly skating, forechecking and digging seem to get more lucky bounces.

Thornton just following in the footsteps of Lindros, Owen Nolan and Leetch. A day late and a dollar short. I’m sure I’m missing countless other guys came to town too late in their careers to make a difference.

Spezza, Tavares.....

I know right? It's weird to me to see the Oil doing those things. Maybe if they become more consistent with that effort, I might stop being surprised by it.

Not only this, but the eyes say he is calm in his own end which is something that can’t be said about the bulk of our D corps.

He’s a very welcome addition.

The Laffs goal wasn't "weird"- a crap play by Kass wound up in the Oil net. Of all people in the world, Matthews is the last person you should turn the puck over to in that area.

Remind me again what exactly Kassian brings to that first line? He's not hitting or retrieving pucks, not agitating, not shooting...lots of no look behind the back passes (that inevitably get picked off) though.

Edit: Heh, thought he was going to make me eat my words there, but nope.

Sigh, can Connor get someone better than Kass to play with? A better winger would have made it 3-1 on that rush.
