I’ll (hopefully) be watching my first game of the season... maybe I’ll be the good luck these knuckleheads need.

First goal: McDavid

Final: 4-2 Oilers (McDavid, Kahun, JP, Drai)

In a shortened season with a lower margin for error, every game could be described as "must win".

Well on the bright side, I don't think the Jones - Larsson especially Larsson can play any worse so there is that positive I hope.

I figured it would be a split but thought we'd come out hot and take the first game by storm. Canucks are no pushovers. I do wonder if travel wears on them harder this season with literally every away game in another time zone and lots of short breaks between games.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

Skinner recalled. Did we break Kostco leaving him out to dry in the first game of the year? So begins the age of Smith version 12.0

Naw. Think they’re doing the Leafs thing of carrying 3 goalies. Then if the claim for Forsberg is successful they’ll keep him with the main squad and send Skinner to the A

Tippet referred to a player having some bumps and bruises... perhaps that’s what the Skinner emergency recall is all about. If so. Uh oh. Though. They’ve yet to name a starter... so perhaps it’s Smith? And Koskinen goes again tonight? Either way.. I feel like I’m Ralphie in A Christmas Story and I just dropped the hubcap with the lug nuts.

The only one the media asked about from the sound of it is Yamamoto, who Tippett said is not coming out of the lineup.

Man, I sure hope it's not Koskinen hurt. That would be a really bad thing for the Oilers.

FWIW Smith did NOT partake in the optional this morning. Neither did Koskinen, though he played last night.

Perhaaaaaps somethings up with Smith? Slipped a disc while doing up the velcro on his shoes? Pinched a finger doing the buttons of his cardigan?

I’d take a rested Mike Smith over a back to back Koskinen 10 times out of 10.

Koskinen gets the start tonight, he’s out for warmups, with Skinner backing him up.

Smith not active.

Not that Koskinen is the 2nd coming, but Smith is like the anchor on the Titanic. He’s not helping you stay afloat.

Exactly. The lesser of two evils for sure.

Hey, maybe this will be able to spark the lads? They couldn’t seem to get up to play for Colby in the play in... they couldn’t seem to get up to do anything for Joey last night. Maybe they can get up to do it for Smitty tonight.

I’d take a rested Mike Smith over a back to back Koskinen 10 times out of 10.

It’s going to get ugly tonight.

There’s exceptionally few options where I’d ever pick Mike Smith, rested or not. I don’t think there’s a drop off here.
