Dumb penalty and the Blues tie it up. Jurco to the doghouse.

Chaisson is going full Looch on us. Had a chance there to send McDavid on a breakaway and he barely moves and makes a limp wristed attempt on the puck.

Meh, how many people expected Chiasson to recapture the goal-scoring goose he had up his butt last year? Exactly.

Shaping up to be another night of stellar officiating. Who says clutch & grab is dead? Looks like the way the Blues wanna play this one.

Did Persson get hurt again or did he just play himself off the line-up for tonight? If he is going to have injury issues throughout the season, Bouchard should be called up, because he could not in any way be anything but an improvement over Manning.

He's looking like a candidate for the Rieder Trophy.

Tippett said he struggled all last game, and the giveaway for GA #2 was the last straw. Think he is getting a bit of a wakeup call.

Chiasson was never brought in to be a bruiser. He's just another secondary forward not pulling his weight this year.

Not even asking for bruising. Just...being a little aware of his surroundings and making obvious plays. He's lost out there.

Chiasson is a shooter, not a passer. He was originally put back onto the 1st line to be a target-man for Connor's passing. If he can't finish those passes, he's useless.

Yes, Jake Allen is a goalie that you should be afraid to shoot on. Keep on passing and waiting for the perfect shot boys.

Yep, and he's the best option too, because Koski would be a worse donkey against the defending champs. Sigh, another night where the goalie digs a hole for his team to get themselves out of.

Yup, when you have numbers in your zone but a guy is uncovered and gets a good look....and your last line of defense fails in Smith, not good. No goalie win tonight by the looks of it.

It's another game in which the team are forced to try to outscore their mistakes. Let's hope that Connor and Drai can pull another rabbit out of their asses....

Worse Donkey? Goalie digs a hole? While I still have concerns they can be good consistently for the whole season goal tending has not been an issue this season so far. There has been the odd bad goal against but it isnt like the team is fighting though a bad goal, or two, every game.

Oilers are 7th in GA and that is partially due to improved defense but you cant look past the fact that both goalies have been decent at worst and some nights been fantastic.

I agree with Ragnarok that most of us didnt expect him to match his goal total. That aside though I think he looks terrible in other parts of the game.
He looks slow, not just in his skating but in his decision making. He is losing the puck a lot because he is taking extra time trying to decide what to do with it. On a team where the bottom 6 forwards have not been very good he has often been one of the worst.

Yeah, he just looks like another AHLer. Just not good at anything, aside from that knee on knee hit I guess, that was expertly done.

He's worse than I expected, and I really only expected him to be a 10-15 goal guy thanks to a few little hot streaks through the year. I guess that can still happen, but boy is he painful to watch in the mean time.

Argh, when will Bouchard get a shot? Offensively, we all know he's already light-years ahead of the likes of Manning, Benning, and Russell, and defensively, he couldn't be worse than a 3rd-pairing guy like Manning.

Plenty of quality rushes and shooting chances passed up looking for perfect passes tonight. Just so unnecessary against this goalie, and knowing how good St Louis is at scrambling to cut off passes. Not sure what it takes to stop the cuteness. O'Rielly has been laughing all night picking off our cute passes.

Blaming the goalies is easy and as a fan of this team it has been right more than wrong in the last decade but I think you are way off here.

The Oilers have allowed more than 3 goals only 2 times this season, winning one of those.
They have scored less than 3 eight times.

As mentioned they are 7th in GA and while Bear has been a massive positive surprise and others have improved some this isnt exactly a world class top 6.
I hate the Kosi contract as much as anyone but he cant be blamed for much this year. Every goalie will have the odd bad goal against.
Smith had the bad game with 2 goals caused by his wandering but again there has been a lot more good than bad from him as well.

Credit where it is due and in fact I would suggest the Oilers have had more games where goal tending was the difference in a positive than a negative way.

It seems like this team is letting their record get to their heads, much like they did back in 2017-18. Tippett is going to have to get them to pull their heads out of the clouds and focus on doing the small things right again.

I'm not saying that the Oil goalies have been terrible all year, but they have put up some stinkers, like the ones that Koski laid last game and the one that Smith turned in against the Hawks.

I'm not putting this on Smith. First two goals were PP point shots. Allowing 3 goals against the league's best is expected. It's the skaters that aren't getting enough done.

And Koski let in 2 goals on Monday. Thats an enough to give the team a win. the skaters again didn't get it done. They are to blame.

I am watching the Blues feed and the announce team has mentioned both the pretty passes getting picked and the lack of shooting.
Especially in a game where not much is going right you need to start dumping pucks on net and looking for the greasy stuff. Not every goal needs to be a highlight reel.

What the hell Kassian. You were supposed to try to pass that back to McDavid.

Smith is off tonight. Sigh...on track to losing the goalie battle against Jake freakin Allen.

Yep, and he's the best option too, because Koski would be a worse donkey against the defending champs. Sigh, another night where the goalie digs a hole for his team to get themselves out of.

Pump the brakes a bit!

I'm not saying that the Oil goalies have been terrible all year, but they have put up some stinkers, like the ones that Koski laid last game and the one that Smith turned in against the Hawks.

I will admit that I've been harsh on the goaltending this year, as it has been much better overall than the previous two seasons. However, is it good enough to get this team into the playoffs and beyond? I'm still skeptical on that score, though further improvement in play by the team's defense corps would help assuage my concerns.

Tonight's game is a good test, because it's against a team that just won it all last year. Unfortunately, so far, they've been failing that test.

Yep, Kassian is going to get himself kicked off the first line if he doesn't get with the program of 10-pass plays.

Bear should have been called for slashing. McD just infuriating passing right into a sprawled out Pietrangelo.

Argh, when will Bouchard get a shot? Offensively, we all know he's already light-years ahead of the likes of Manning, Benning, and Russell, and defensively, he couldn't be worse than a 3rd-pairing guy like Manning.

Has he over ripened? Never heard that term used in a positive way before but, we gotta trust Holland.

Wow, refs missed a call so bad the announcers just assumed it was a penalty. McD got slashed and held consecutively, no call.

It's only appropriate that the stupid over-passing kills the team for tonight. Take a good look at how the Blues played tonight, guys, because that's how a champion does things to win.
