Daniel Nugent-Bowman @DNBsports

Jason Gregor @JasonGregor

Well, every team needs an Iiro Pakarinen...

I don't mind the gamble on guys like Haas and Persson. I just don't expect they're going to move the needle much either. I have no issue with this signing - other than the fact that we have more fourth liners than we can possibly keep. I wonder if Brodziak isn't pushed to the minors too...

Team speed was a big hole last year, throughout the roster, it affected everything, the PK, and bottom 6, as well as D, with exception of D. Nurse.

IMHO I'd file these guys as below required NHL speed/quickness;

Below Required
D
Larsson
Benning

Forwards
Lucic
Brodziak
Gagner
Chaisson

.. and these guys passable..
Average Speed/Quickness

D
Klefbom
Russell

Forwards
Khaira
Cave

More speed the better, getting to the puck first is half the possession battle

Absolutely **cannot** agree on Larsson being too slow. Gagner too, but he’s closer to the low end.

I don't mind the gamble at all. Over the years, lots of other teams go to Europe and find these cheap guys to fill a role while the Oilers were bidding on overpriced vets who's best days were long gone. It's a 2 way deal so if he doesn't work out, he goes to the minors and my best is he will just terminate his contract and go back to Europe because he will make more money.

You think Larsson is fast/quick? I have to agree to disagree there
