Not a great game for the Oilers so far, feels like it's the 3rd game in 4 nights.

Not that I want to poop on the one positive comment this site has generated, but I feel you or I could get 25 goals with those linemates.

Oh Poop! Come on man. Chaisson is where he needs to be for those goals.

Give the dude some credit. He's making the most of a great situation and has pretty decent hands.

That tip against Winnipeg was pretty sweet.

I like how Chiasson plays on that line. Much like Maroon he plays his role and fills the right spot at the right time.

I'm so damn excited that we're seeing positive results since Hitchkock has taken over. After railing on for a couple years about the coaching ( or lack there of) I can't help but be positive.

Good times!

Embrace it1

It's been a long time since the games have more meaning beyond watching McDavid's magic!

Not a great first period but this looks like a whole new team under Hitch. I think it is a is a big enough sample size to say it is a change and not just a new coach temp boost.
JP look much better. Gaining confidence and making smarter plays.
Nurse is stepping up to the challenge of his increased role. Still some brain cramp mistakes here and there but over all playing a better game.

The entire bottom six looks better for the most part.

Lucic looks to be embracing his role. He will never earn that paycheck but that isnt his fault. He isnt coughing up the puck as much on zone entries and is winning some board battles.

Goals per game has stayed the same as the first part of the season but GAA is down about .75

I shudder to think what this team would look like the last 5 or 6 periods after the recent injuries but they are holding it together after 3 games in 4 nights down a couple of guys.

For this game I am concerned about running out of gas in the third but so far so good.

Missed most of the 1st, but has there been any noticeable drop-off with Jones slotting in place of Wideman tonight?

Yep, he is.

It is an underrated skill to mesh with elite talent. A lot of better hockey players have played wing with McDavid and I dont know if anyone has been as successful as Chiasson on a per minute basis outside of Draisaitl. Maroon would be close I would assume.

Being in the right place is a big part of it but he also seems ready to shoot at all times which is a big deal. It is pretty rare that the puck hits his stick and he isnt in a position to get it off his stick, toward the net, almost immediately.

I assume he didnt play a lot as I didnt notice anything really good or bad. A couple times I made a point to watch him and he seemed to be playing a simple confident style so far.

One thing I noticed is that he almost never turns his back to the puck. It seems like such a simple thing but a mistake that so many guys do at all levels of hockey.

I'm getting tired of hearing the words "Drai feeds it out front" and "it clears the zone" when they're on the PP. This is why he is not centering his own line- work on that passing game, damnit!!!!

Our D seem much more involved in offensive play since Hitch took over.

Hope Todd isn't watching and taking notes and gets hired by a Western Conference team.

hitch complained that Pulju is giving the rest of the league way too much respect. I imagine that mentality is hard to break after 2+ years of being treated like you don't belong in this league no matter what you do.
