Here is hoping Puljuljarvi can make up for 2 years of lost development.

....just an opinion, but I think this is for the benefit of Puljujarvi and Yamamoto...give them lots of playing time and some reasonable practice time in a pretty competitive league...they will be back in the NHL eventually, and better players for their time in the AHL....

Fully agree. Surprised but glad this move happened.

This is the right move. They need a minimum of 15-20 games to play in all situations and get the minutes they need to gain confidence again.

I’m thrilled about this move.

I hope they don’t rush JP back at the first sign of successful play in the AHL. Points in 6 straight games and suddenly he’s on a plane to Edmonton, then within a week he’s in and out of the pressbox with 9 minute nights with plugs here and there.

I hope these two have to grind it out all season down there.

Hope Pulju isn't gonna sulk and he will light up the AHL.

Yams, badly needs this extra time to round out his game and physically mature more.

Definitely the right move for the current state of the Oilers. Pulju was not getting anywhere gaining trust from McLellan.

I just hope they put them both in positions to succeed. “Paying dues” be damned. I want first line, PP1/2 for both of them. Having both of the guys reach their potential would be quite a boon for the team. Especially JP

JP's looked pretty clueless out there so far. Out of position, floating, chasing the puck, bad passing, head up the you know what plays, etc. All of which are expected in a young player and can be coached out of them. Not sure of the level of 1-on-1 coaching they've been giving him or if they've just expected him to figure it out rather than try communicating with him.

Yamamoto has been invisible lately. He started okay but as the season has progressed he looks further and further behind the play. Needs some serious icetime not here.

Good move to move them to the A and get some conditioning, confidence and coaching- 3 things that often seem lacking here.

And, Mike, you're right about the "paying dues" aspect- a carryover of MacT's anti-performance-based style of GM and coaching. Because if Chiasson is hot, better play Rattie because that is the plan right?

Hey, these 2 guys finally get to play an AHL game tonight!

Hope they do well.
