Jets and Flames both lose tonight, so with a chance to put some more distance between us the mighty Oily Boys lay a turd in the opening 20. This isn’t the Canucks here, I don’t see them coming back here. Even with McBestPlayerInTheWorld.

So seriously. McDavid actually does need Matthews for inspiration.

I was thinking about this earlier. And I’m thinking tonight (so far) and the last game are just going to ramp up the Matthews for Hart talk with how Holl, Muzzin and Co are shutting down 97.

The true enemy.

That man is a hero. If not for his quick thinking getting Chia to extend Kostko before Chia was fired, we would have actually had to put effort into finding a goalie in the summer.

You think we could have found 2 Mike Smiths? Not likely. There is literally only 1 Mike Smith. That plays goaltending in the NHL I mean. Of course there are many other Mike Smith's on Earth.

I like how he announced to the media that he was busy asking GM’s at the annual conference in Florida what would be a good fit for a GM on the Oilers. You know......because every GM wants to help the Oilers get better, right?

If I was a GM there, I would have told him Chiarelli is looking...

hehe, and his old buddy Kenny Holland giving him all the time in the world, teaching him what a POHO and GM actually do in the NHL to get Bobby up to speed after he fired Chia.

Sometime, things just perfectly fall into place. It was just meant to be. Some guys just have that gift.

She’s ugly tonight boys. I find myself enjoying the slow motion replays of opposition goalies making acrobatic saves. It’s nice to see what real goaltending is like.

Leafs are the best team in the north, regular season wise anywhat 😉

Schmiddy is, by default, our number 1.

A little odd that Smith gets the opportunity to battle back, but Koskinen is done after 3-0. Inconsistent coaching decisions aren't ideal, because it gives the impression of favouritism.

Keyword. Battle.

Koskinen only has level 1 battle, where as Smith has a battle range of 1 to 4.

I'm honestly not that bothered by that line not getting reunited. We need two good lines and both of these units have produced this year. It's not the issue with the team.

I do think that the rumours are likely correct and Draisaitl's banged up. He's not been the same for a few games now. It would be nice if something good could happen for Yamamoto and get him out of his little slump here too. He's struggled to produce lately. Kahun, for all the flak he takes in here, he's been more productive over the last 2-3 weeks.

I think this is a good glimpse of playoff hockey where checking lines get dialed in on our big two. Do we have a second gear strategy wise?

Bit different cases I think.

The Vancouver non-pull, Schmiddy was brutal on one but the other 2 were arguably defensive farts. Tonight, Koski was no good on any, really.

SCHMIDDY IS IN

A little odd that Smith gets the opportunity to battle back, but Koskinen is done after 3-0. Inconsistent coaching decisions aren't ideal, because it gives the impression of favouritism.

Bit different cases I think.

The Vancouver non-pull, Schmiddy was brutal on one but the other 2 were arguably defensive farts. Tonight, Koski was no good on any, really.

For a big goalie, a lot of pucks sure find a way through him.

Then you have an untechnical crease spaz like Smith, and he somehow keeps those ones Koskinen whiffs on out.

I don’t think this team feels too comfy when they know Koskinen is back there though.

Nurse playing like he cares. He’s having a terrible game but he cares and that matters. Leading with intensity

Does every freaking shot have to be high?

It’s like they are in warmup trying to hit the top bar ffs.

It’s stunning how may shots were completely wasted this period.

This is the NHL, right?

When you're playing Hasek for the 2nd night in a row, only the perfect top corner snipes will do.

2 shots 2 goals koskinen just watched that go by him lol

Thank you, ChiaPet- you really @!$#ed the Oil with his contract, you POS.

Bob is #2 in the firm among people I'd like to see dismissed, after Kevin Lowe.

So many embarrassing moments in his tenure here. Remember his "forensic audit"? Or when he promised to do an audit again a couple years later, with no evidence that he actually ever delivered the first one?

Who can forget his comment about Tobias Rieder, saying that if he'd scored 12 instead of zero, we're in the playoffs (the team was -42 on that season).

I think he hired his wife to do some work for the company as well.

Everything about the GM search was a tire fire. Saying that he needed to do his homework, telling the world that the Oilers had only done one job interview on their previous three GM hires. Constantly testing the waters on whether Keith Gretzky could just be the GM - including bragging that he'd asked other GMs how Keith was doing and was told that they think he's doing a bang-up job. Of course, asking them what he should be looking for in a GM as well...then half-way through the hunt, giving up completely on taking his time and doing his homework because Ken Holland was available, so immediately hiring a guy completely on reputation yet again.

I swear, every time I see him, I think Bob Nicholson looks wasted. Bright red nose, a little slurry.

Why Katz keeps clowns like that around, I'll never know. It's not like Nicholson's ever done anything actually hard. Virtually any poster in here could have picked Team Canada for five Olympics and win at least 60% of the time. Nicholson never really had the final say on anything anyhow. He's just an empty vessel.
