Samanski loaned to BAK. Hopefully he makes his way back.
Michaels probably the biggest surprise of pre-season. Babs liking the kids hockey IQ. Has his work cut out for him with Frederic on his line though. Freddy was dragging his butt in pre-season, but his 4M cap hit demands he stick in the lineup I guess. This is also a very tough spot for Howard to generate any offense to try to stand out. Dickinson probably bumps Dach down to the 4th line (and Michaels out) when he's back.

Agree for the most part, Michaels didn't exactly separate himself that much.. but I think teh fact he's a RHS that can play center helped him out.. apparently one of the best conditioned in camp.. so the guy is taking his career seriously.. his wheels were OK.. not great.. I think Samanski looked unremarkable for a guy that played most of last season in the NHL.. probably a positive .. Babcock telling last years guys that your place on the roster is not a lock.. gives the AHL'ers a light at the end of the Bako tunnel.. and gives Samanski more ice time to develop.. there's a NHL'er there.
Also noticed Howard was dropped to 4th line.. although 3rd and 4th are probably going to be pretty close in ice time.. Howard wouldn't cut it with McD-LD or RNH-Hyman.. and he worldn't fit with teh forecheck line of Formenton, Dach and Joeseph.. so its teh 4th.. I figure there will be lots of opportunity during the season to move up a line.. just not now.. plus Kapanen is bigger and faster for the RNH-HYman line.. .. and Podzilla is a better puck-possesion and net front for McD-LD.
I think that the top 6 D-men deserved their spots.. to me Mako was playing better than Emberson.. although Emberson is a true RHD.. Stastney was the clear 8th D-man.
I'm still deliberating what Walman will be this season.. he "looks" leaner and fitter.. not sure that translates to real improvement in quickness and speed.. he played way to slow last year.. awful.. Babcock emphasizing high speed play and decision making will force him to either improve or get demoted.
Jarry and Levi have looked OK.. so far.. I belive the new style of play from the Oilers in their own end with more pressure the puck carrier.. that the shots our goalies face will be more predictable and hopefully more stoppable.. fingers crossed!
