All the talk on the commentary (highlights only) that I saw were discussing his speed and stats and how useful he could be. I then saw much the same thing over on Sportsnet, and I'm sure similar on the NHL website if I looked.
It's all positive spin right now, aimed at glossing over the history of the guy. For sure his goal was nice, and if he can continue to play as it sounds he did in the opening pre-season game into the season and help the team it's better for the spin. It doesn't mean we forget about the past either. Watching a little of the Vegas games since Hart arrived, and knowing what NHL fans are like in general, he isn't going to face the hostility that he would over here in Europe and I doubt that the club would ever feel forced by the media (which they seemingly have hold of enough to create positive spin already) and fans to end his contract.
My stance remains the same with regards to this and Babcock's appointment, and it would take a lot for me to change it. The Oilers are my team, but they feel very dirty at the moment.
Take me home, country road
to the place where I belong
to Alberta, to see the Oilers
take me home, country road
