Its really time for these award to be relegated into irrelevance.
Imagine taking these things seriously. They hold the names of great players so people will take them seriously but they are literally a manifestation of a bunch of journalists jerking each other off.
They should at least rename them. Kucherov just won the Spector. Some guy in Columbus just stole the Greg Wyshinski trophy as the best d-man.

Tampa had the Jack Adams and Vézina winner on their team. Yet Kuch was still voted most valuable. Cooper even said in season that Kuch got a huge advantage over other top players by getting to rest during the Olympic break.
The vote was close, decided by a 10 point difference. McDavid’s loss is mainly because of some voters that put him 5th place and extra 3rd places vs Kuch.
