The NHL is moving ahead with its investigation on Mike Babcock and events in Columbus as per NHLPA request.
This probably means the Oilers have given a thumbs up that they are sticking to wanting to hire Babcock?

Also, guess there is other stuff that never came out in public, and him asking for players phones to look through their pictures isn't even the big issue in Columbus:

Lol this is all so ridiculous.
I'm guessing this is more along the lines of Mike Commodore crying forever that his coach called him fat 20 years ago when he showed up to training camp fat.
It really is wild how worked up people in Edmonton are about this. Yeah coaches are mean to players sometimes. 20 years ago they probably said and did some things that wouldn't look great brought to the light of todays media landscape. Newsflash.
Anyway I would have been thrilled with this hire 10 years ago but now his age and how long he's been out of the league are definitely major concerns.
The part I don't like is just the way this whole thing has been handled and the absolute buffoons that the Oilers management look like right now. Like they couldn't possibly have looked any less competant over the last year and a half.

Maybe we find out about the extra accusations? It sounds like they came out of Columbus specifically, not just old things from other teams. Something was about to be investigated that made Babcock feel like he had to just quit the Columbus coaching job before the season started.
How we seem to still not want to give up Babcock, even with an investigation that needs to reboot, seems like there is some obsession from the ownership level. And why wouldn't there be? Babcock was the coach back when Katz was hanging out with Lowe, Tambo, Bobby Burgers and the crew looking over those Canadian Olympic teams.

Yeah I don't know about that. From what I recall of that whole incident was that the noise around all of it was pretty crazy. Particularly with the spittin chicklets guys involved and the canadian hockey media jumping on it I think it's likely that CBJ just said forget it - not worth the distraction.
I think if it was something really terrible it would have come out.
Like I said likely just bitter players crying that their coach never liked them.
But I actually hope they do this investigation (and it sounds like they're going to). Let see if what comes out is so horrific that it justifies all the hand wringing going on.
