Vegas needs to be played. Gives permission to talk to Toronto. Comes to an agreement with Toronto. Cassidy signs with Toronto. Old contract null and void with Vegas. Toronto then immediately fires Cassidy and allows him to talk to Edmonton or LA. Signs with one of those division rivals Vegas was being so petty about. Helps payback for Marner meddling. Toronto wins. Edmonton or LA wins. Vegas....takes it in the *** End of my sad tale of revenge.

Vegas won't be able to keep Cassidy from working for a year in his profession (and/or from choosing the team he wants to work for) .. and Vegas also might not want to pay 4.5M for him to golf all winter.. wait 'em out
