If you have a goalie on a long term expensive contract that has a lot of technical faults.. best solution is to do whatever you can to remove the faults .. a lot less expensive in draft pick and prospect assets to develope your own star goalie.. than trying to pry loose someone elses.. or signing one in free agency.. While your're at it, I'd also have a SKATING Department c/w Performance/Analytics Laboratory .. Speed kills.. every player on the roster should have their skating evaluated and analyzed for efficiency .. edge application, stride pattern, strength .. there are a lot of physics involved in a simple skating stride.. which can be quantified.. and hopefully modified and corrected.. If you can't draft high enough to get the players with the top percentile speed.. draft for best player available and then "make" him fast.. and .. make your existing roster palyers faster as well. .. everyone goes through it.. even McDavid :) .. actually what you'd do is model McD's skating and then use it as a template to compare to the rest of the players.. each palyer gets personal skating drills to correct their own specific faults.. It's a thought anyway..

Would guess there is a huge variety of ways that goalies handle their training. In-season teams probably have their own hired people working with your goalies. Maybe if the goalie is rich already and a big name he could have his own guy tag along too. I think Jack Campbell actually did that with us (a lot of help that did, lol). Mike Smith may have too. Not sure how much control you can really force on your athletes for how they handle training out of season.

Jarry for sure is well documented as coming back to Edmonton every summer to keep up with the legend Dustin Schwartz, while he really had no choice but to work with the Pens people in-season. THere is no such record for Carter Hart, I just always assumed that goalies Schwartz worked with in Junior ended up locked into whatever magic spiderweb that Schwartz catches people in, like our org that allowed him to survive half a dozen coach changes and almost as many GM changes.

Skinner of course had a double dose of Schwartz, all season long and summer, until an interruption this season with Schwartz fired from the team. Maybe he's right back with him now though :)

Seems Hart wisely moved on and picked his own people some time ago. Jarry really should be doing the same, but probably won't after over a decade of being in the Schwartz Club.
