I think up until now the NHL's contracts haven't needed to be tested in an actual court of law, specificly employment law.. because no team has ever denied the head coach they FIRED from continuing his coaching career with another team.. this could become a test case.. if it went to court I'm pretty sure the NHL (Vegas) contract terms would fail in this regard.. you can't prevent someone with from continuing their profession and/or sign a more extended term contract .. it impedes someone's continued livlihood.

The NHL Coaches association has already stepped in and made a statement..
