Assuming McDavid doesn't show interest in signing past next season (and really, at this point I wouldn't even blame him, much as that sucks), what would everyone's thoughts be concerning a trade with NYR involving McDavid, Nurse & Jarry moving out, and Shesterkin+ coming back to us?
Would give us the legit #1 goalie we've been seeking in forever, would free up a ton of cap space (depending on the plus coming back), including the "untradeable" Nurse boat anchor, which would give us the space to sign two solid d-men, or maybe one D and a solid center.

I don't hate it in theory. My question with every McDavid trade idea going forward will always be "why would McDavid agree to this?". If it's to an organization he's actually interested in playing with over the long term, I don't see why he'd agree to go to a team that gave up the farm and/or took on horrible contracts to get him. He will want to be somewhere that is in a good position to win it all.
And if it's a trade to a team he's no interested in playing for beyond the rental term, I also don't see why he'd do the Oilers organization a solid considering it can be argued very strongly that he owes this organization absolutely nothing. He gave it his all including forgoing cash to the tune of 8 figures over the next two years only to see the team take massive step back and spend that cash on garbage like Jarry and Frederic. It's kind of insulting really what they've done here with the gift he gave them.
I'm definitely curious how this all ends. Probably just a disappointing rental trade in early March 2028. Sorry for all the negativity, but I'm pretty cranky with how the McDavid era turned out. What colossal a disappointment. Especially with the news out of Toronto and their 1OA.
