Ungar 0 minutes played in the playoffs. Sat there and watched Tomkins let in 5 goals twice with 0.783 and 0.808 sav%'s to have our team eliminated.

Are we really focused on developing Tomkins? Jerked Ungar around with an ECHL demotion to make room for Pickard, and then we happily just let our team be eliminated with some crap goaltending with ungar sitting out some more.

From top to bottom the organization is flat out weird about goalie development. We are constantly grabbing these older goalies for the farm team, rather than focusing on developing anyone. Two decent prospects in the organization this year at goal and the team mainly plays their 31-year old free agent signing (42 games), plus has to spend significant reclamation time on Ingram (11 games) and Pickard (8 games). Ungar, who has the best stats of any of them by far, plays just 13 times for the Condors while getting loaned out to three different ECHL teams this year. Reminiscent of the Dubnyk/Deslauriers development model, although at least there the Oilers had the excuse of not having their own AHL team.

If the Oilers don’t believe in Ungar then they should have had Jonsson there. If they do believe in Ungar then he should have at least split the games and given his stats should have been the guy they went to in the Playoffs.
