Boy am I glad Lowe addressed this. Pronger's story sounds like a mix of BS and some truth. The only truth likely being that he signed the long term deal without discussing it with his wife. Everything else smells like damage control and revisionist history to make his bio more marketable.

I don't know why these guys have to lie and also crap on a city in order to elevate themselves - for the purpose of what - selling books? Pretty pathetic tbh.

Obviously Edmonton is an easy target to trash and he knows the mouth breathing losers will just buy what he's saying because it's kinda funny, but this whole situation seems very unnecessary. I hope it backfires on him if he really is angling for GM position.

I agree with Lowe that he should have just let him sit. Trading him away for peanuts set a bad precedent. Fulfill your commitments - you expect the owners to do the same.

Agree.
Happy Lowe addressed it, smelled like revisionist history telling by Pronger.
Pronger was happy to get a LONG TERM high paid contract right before the cap came in.. he chased the money.. now he blames it on knocking back "too many Buds" .. but he was sweating it with the uncertainty of the new cap era coming in.. Oilers were willing to pay.. he took it.. happily.. until he started to realize as the effects of the cap shook out that he might be able to get the same $ somewhere else..

With regards to him to sniffing around for a new GM job.. If you believe the story telling in his book.. do you hire a guy that displays that little amount of due diligence with his own career.. to manage your team's franchise? Do you hide the beer fridge during the trade deadline and July 1st UFA season? :)

About GMing. A culture of making huge multi-year multi-million dollar decisions while drunk at 1am would actually explain a lot about Oilers management the last 1.5 or so decades. Maybe Pronger knows something we don't, and this story helps his case for a management job :)
