| Skookum Jim wrote on Thu, 09 April 2026 12:37 | McDavid should win the Hart trophy every year.. he is the league MVP.. and the team's MVP.. every year.. plus no one ever talks about the leadership he brings to the team.. he carries an entire team on his back every year.. he is the offence.. he either scores or assists on highest percentage of his teams goals every year.. everyone knows the team doesn't have great goaltending.. or a top level defence.. Oilers win games based on what McDavid can do.. he becomes the entire focus of opposing teams game plans.. no one is more valuable to a team than he is.. by any measure..
Had to be said..
Its a blessing every time that guy pulls on the Oil jersey. 👍🏻🙂
Its comical how the sports media will contort their reasoning in order to find a way to not vote for him as the MVP every year.. Cellibrini.. McKinnon, Kutcherov.. all great players.. but c'mon
eo rant :)

This is why it is dumb that the media is who votes for these awards. They are motivated by who they can write about, and McDavid being amazing every year doesn't make for great writing. If Cellibrini won it over McDavid then it would be a huge story, a story manufactured by the people doing the voting.

Seems almost guaranteed that Celebrini will get more Hart votes than McDavid. McDavid fatigue is certainly real. He has barely been mentioned all year as a Hart candidate. Even with Drai going down and McDavid going supernova to will us towards tops in our division, taking back the scoring lead, just a collective "meh" from pundits. At the same time though, Bouch is given no credit for his offensive numbers because he plays with McDavid.
