I think we can all agree Bowman is a pretty terrible GM, not as bad a Chia, but the sum of the parts make him to be very not good.

The Oilers will have lots of cap space on July 1 so there is a plan in place but I doubt he will keep his head when handing out those amazing team killing deal he finds.

I'm not sure I agree that Mangiapane was a complete lost cause here. I thought he'd been much better lately.

He had a pretty bad start to the year (not the only Oiler in that camp) but since that first six weeks, I don't think he's been a liability and he has produced a little despite the fact that he doesn't get any time with McDavid and Draisaitl.

It seems very similar to the Skinner signing last year - he was just not someone the coach seemed to have any time for, but he did chip in (Skinner much more so - but even worse hated by the coach).

I do believe that McDavid and Draisaitl are pretty demanding on what they want from their wingers. Fitting in to that is somewhat challenging for some as it requires adapting the way they play. A big part of that is that they want guys who'll defer to them with the puck - I think it was actually a challenge with the Team Canada powerplay in that he's playing with others that are used to having the puck a lot who aren't deferring - but I think they'd have done better if MacKinnon could have been convinced to hold the puck less and just focus on getting open while McDavid creates.

When they start the season and they're re-learning how to play with those guys and then the team does it's typical October fall-on-their-face routine, I think the shine comes off them real fast and they almost get scapegoated themselves for the slow start. They inevitably get bumped to depth lines playing with zero-offence guys like Henrique and Janmark and then people question their contributions as they play 11 minutes a night, while we go back to same-old, same-old.

Have seen a couple times now some commentary on Dickinson - great that he's a guy who can hold his own against tough competition (even if he can't score at all), but are the Oilers reducing top six minutes to give more of those shifts to the third line? Pretty doubtful. If he and Murphy don't suddenly make our PK bulletproof, then it's hard to see how they can possibly be worth a first and a second. A depth scorer who could step up if Nuge or Hyman get hurt in the playoffs might have been more valuable in the end.
