Example of a ref changing his mind after making a call

And seem multiple claims that this exact same situation happened with Ovechkin and the refs listened to him and cancelled the penalty. Can’t find video of it though.

Good example.. Yeah I'm sure I've seen refs do the "no penalty on the play" announcment many times.. especially on puck over glass.. without a replay.. they just huddle and change their minds.. refs obviously have discretion to nullify their call if persuaded otherwise,.. doesn't look good on their resume though.. so they stick with it right or wrong.

Different sport, but NFL officials pick up their flag all the time. It’s silly to stick with what you know is a bad call.

I agree, NFL gets it.. with frame-by-frame replays, internet, and HD accuracy, everyone in the world will know it was a blown call.. if you ignore the mistake and proceed it looks even worse for the league.
NHL hasn't figured it out yet.. still thinks everyone is watching on CRT TV's .. and don't have something called the internet.. makes their officiating look worse by not correcting. They often excuse it by saying they don't want to slow the game down.. but they already spend 10 minutes looking at offsides frame-by-frame in 4k definition.
