So one thing I have not seen mentioned is that the Oilers have been on the road the vast majority this season. They have played 24 games right now, and 16 of those have been road games, including a couple of longer eastern trips this year. That does not excuse all the bad play, but their home record is 5-1-2, which is not bad at all. In December they finally have a little longer of a homestead (before another eastern road trip), and maybe they try and settle themselves down at that point. The last half of January they also have an extended homestead which will hopefully help them again.
This is me looking for the last shred of optimism I have. Great teams should be great at home and on the road, and clearly we don't have a great team. Somewhere in there we have a good team though, and good teams should have a strong home record.
