Losing to a goalie who's at .778 SV% for the game. Sounds about right.
We can barely win when our goalie posts a 0.8 SV% so not unexpected that we're behind.
To be clear, I'm not blaming that 100% on our goalies. We've left our goalies out to dry SO MANY times this year, but at some point you'll hope they make a save.

I agree and I think this is a case of two things can be true.
Skinner (and even more so Pickard) have not been good enough.
The team is giving up too many dangerous chances. Whether it is a missed assignment, giveaway, lost battle or some other mistake this is happening too many times a game.
The upside for me is that the second point can likely be cleaned up. The Oilers are only averaging around 26 SA/G, one of the better teams in the league. Stop the neutral zone giveaways and focus on positioning in the D zone and I would bet the goalies start to look a lot better.

Teams lose confidence when their goalie is as bad as ours have been this year. They just don’t trust them at all. We play from behind nearly every game because our goalie lets up some garbage. I am not a professional goalie but I play beer league and I would make saves that skinner isn’t. It’s pathetic. Our defense no doubt isn’t good either, but this starts with goaltending. Until that is addressed this season is a wash

I would expect someone who plays goalie to have a more rational take on goaltending. It is a cop out and easy scapegoat to blame everything on Skinner.
Tonight is one game but many have gone this way. Skinner has made plenty of good saves tonight. The Caps have had more good chances in half a game than a team should give up over 60.
ETA; one thing I do agree on 100% is that teams lose confidence in front of bad goaltending. I dont think that is the case with the Oilers right now if the goalies were playing better it would defintaly allow team to play more loose (in a good way)
