This silly 18 month cycle of coaching effectiveness is probably a misread of the situation. The Oilers are good enough to win at will in the regular season when they think they need to win. Ride it out. They're not a disaster in the standings right now.

That's totally fair. Just seems like he's morphed a bit into Woody (without the job interview style answers to the press). The way he keeps panicking with the lineup. Too many players without roles other than placeholding while the core catches its breath. On Thursday McDrai played 2 minutes in a 2:45 span.. so he puts the next line out.. that line forces an icing 10 seconds into their shift.. they basically sat 10 seconds of playing time before crawling the boards again. It can't be fun for depth players or enticing for free agents when your name gets dragged through the mud while you play 6 minutes a night. Any chance you get to score, they swap you off for 97 and 29. You don't even get PK time anymore. KK was refreshing when he arrived because he seemed very entrenched in his coaching philosophy/decisions. Lately he seems like he's running out of ideas and just worries about the next goal. I feel if he keeps trending this current direction the L's will start accumulating to an unsettling number and Bowman won't have a choice.

I feel like people are starting to care again what the players and coaches say in the media. I really don't understand why. They don't need to have any transparency at all, and it's probably better that they don't. Anything serious should be handled in the room, not to give Mark Spector quotes for his next click-bait article.
I don't like that once again our coach seems to love old grinders and would prefer a bottom-six that's slow, dull and unlikely to score over taking any risks on youth. I think there are some systemic issues that are making our struggling defence worse at the moment. There's some things that need to be addressed here - but how they talk to the absolute morons in the Edmonton sports media just should never be a concern. Remember, on top of the lack of any necessity to be transparent, the guys who they're facing down are the dumbest of the dumb. It's not like there's some of the smart posters from here in that room. We're talking the likes of Ryan Rishaug and Jim Matheson. Can you imagine the inanity of taking questions from that lot day after day?
