One of the things that worried me about signing the 31-year old AHL goaltender was that it impacts Jonsson's opportunities. There's a lot to like about that player so is it really best that he's buried in the ECHL? Matt Tomkins has not had a great run to start the season (neither has Ingram) and even if he had, what's his best case trajectory? He's had all of 6 NHL games to this point and he's probably not destined for a lot more. I'd much rather have Jonsson getting starts there.
If the plan was that Ingram gets called up and then he gets his shot, so be it - but I'd definitely like to see him there sooner than later and know what we have. At some point this organization has to learn how to trust youth - even if they weren't first overall picks.
