What he doesn't mention is that this isn't a one off. Skinner does this again and again. In the biggest moments he sewers the team and then thinks he can laugh it off and fan boy the other team while he chumps it up with reporters. Why isn't he pissed off???

It is absolutely a defense mechanism. Noticed this a while back with skinner. His comments after embarrassing stuff is just as much about trying to convince himself it’s still all OK as he is trying to convince us to back off and stop talking about it. Guy is going to forever be a ticking time bomb in the net, that will collapse into long periods of sagging zero confidence and handicap the team.
