The other guy that seems to do this all the time in Nurse.. never blames himself for a blunder.. maybe there is a common thread here .. .. like you can't fix a problem until you acknowledge you have a problem.. ??

I don't think that's fair. I do think Skinner owned up to this error. I also don't think that telling the media you screwed up is really a player's obligation. They can deal with errors with coaches and teammates and then beyond that, there's no need to give Mark Spector a comment. I honestly HATE the way he phrased his question to Knoblauch last night - basically reads from the copy he's written already and then asks the coach to crap all over his goalie.
If I was a player I would disagree with those scribes on principle and would never give them a quote that helps them skewer me in the paper and on twitter.

Who was he miscommunicating with? Bouchard? The coach? Miscommunication implies that someone else was involved.
In general I'd agree that anytime you can be unhelpful to the media hacks you should but there are times when it's so glaringly obvious that you f'd up that you really just need to say "that ones on me", "I need to be better" etc. There's no "miscommunication" and there's no "but...".
Every player makes those plays occasionally and you can tell a lot about them by the way they handle it - if they try to subtely shift the blame. Unfortunately Chew Dinner makes those plays all the time and always has a good chuckle with the media about it and talks about how great the other team is and how happy he is with his game.

Miscommunication is certainly Skinner trying to spread out some blame. But it was just him. Slamming the stick down and blocking Bouch from getting the puck. Then not passing it to Bouch who made an easy toss anywhere to Skinner’s right an option. Then skinner continuing to freeze up and panic until he tries to throw it to his left as Coleman is hitting it to the net.
Just pure braindead panic sequence by Stu. Notice he lifts his stick up off the ice and waves his arm out when he notices the deflection 20 ft out on the first goal too. Puck just smoothly slides right between his legs where his stick would have been a moment earlier.
Gonna be an interesting season again, that’s for sure.

They were touting how much leaner Skinner was coming into camp with the implication that he was to slow.
But man alive, his downfalls have been making the worst decisions, poorly read the play, or not react. And then he gets stuck in a mental loop and falls further apart. None of which has any connection to his body composition… all mental. And not something you can fix by riding a bike.
A starter need to keep it to one “bad” goal and not lose his mentality if things start to go sideways.
