Yeah…I’m not going through that again.
If McDavid leaves, I can’t imagine my interest ever returning to current levels. Too old to start cheering for another team, and no interest in watching bottom feeders and learning all about the upcoming draft classes.

I feel seen. that's exactly my thoughts on my fandom. I just can't be invested into a team any longer especially when the stay player is leaving "just because".
Like Adam says, dazzle McDavid with the path toward multiple cups and perhaps he stays. Right now, I just do not think that past this year, McDavid is here.
My reasoning for this is McDavid's holdout. There should be no reason McDavid would hold out when it's entirely in his court. He says the number and term, the Oilers go "yep" sign and done.
No, McDavid stringing this along day by day isn't good for the team, it isn't good for the fans and it's a distraction hanging over the team all season long.
It's McDavid's right to do this and if this is the last year of hockey with McDavid in an Oilers jersey, well ladies and gentlemen, I'm watching as much as I can and enjoying it. Cheers!
