And if you had any doubts that this was the right move, David Staples hates it.
Kane has a decent shot and can score some goals but he's a terrible passer, awful at breakouts and a bad teammate who'll pout even in the Stanley Cup Finals or when the team is on record-tying win streak.
He had a tremendous playoffs the first year he was in Edmonton but in the three post-seasons since, in 53 games he's had only 25 points while wracking up 127 PIMs. With Nuge hurt and Hyman out, the team needed him to step up in the Finals, but he went 1-0-1 in the six games with 32 PIMs.
And he's still a guy who beat up a girl in a hotel room in Buffalo. I don't think there should be a lot of forgiveness for beating up women.
Happy to see him go, and even happier that the Oilers were able to do it without a Holland/Kassian-style deal where we end up paying to get rid of him.

The girl was injured so badly she needed surgery. She sued Kane for damages. That was settled shortly after he signed his big contract with the Oilers. I think there's enough evidence that something bad went down.

Here's a news flash for you - people (even women!) sometimes lie when it benefits them and particularly when it's in relation to their ex who is a millionaire famous athlete. I wonder why Kane was granted custody of their child?
I know this is falling on deaf ears but you do this every time someone is accused of anything. Can't wait to jump on here and virtue signal and pretend to assume that they are terrible people so you can preach and make judgments when (again) you have no idea what actually occurred. It's really an odd personality characteristic. Probably diagnosable.
In any case this trade was terrible. The oilers don't get out of the 1st round without Kane and they are going to spend the year looking for this exact player. Coming into a contract year he is going to be healthy and motivated.
Looking forward to your meltdown when Carter Hart and the rest are found not guilty (because they aren't) and he signs with the Oilers.
