The team still obviously has more to do this summer but we're a long way from training camp. Everyone seems so intent on seeing the final roster already. But there may be advantages to waiting a little and seeing what shakes out. Some players may see their market dry up and some teams may find themselves needing to make a trade to make numbers work. Lots of time here.

I mean yes and no. It's not the Oilers way to work beyond July 2. Do you honestly think expect anything substantial to happen? The Oilers don't have the cap space to take on any of those deals teams may be forced to make, so I don't see that as an option.
I could see them adding some unproven prospects (i.e. Isaac Howard) or borderline vets (Curtis Lazar), and hoping that someone steps up into the vacant roles. It often hasn't worked out well for the Oilers in past seasons.
The biggest area of need (goaltending) didn't get addressed. And in the process, they got much weaker in the middle six. They kept a core guy in Bouchard, haven't locked up McDavid yet, and on paper look worse than last year.
Things can change this summer, but given past history, I'm not really expecting them to.
