Would you sign up for 8 years?
One of the greatest to ever play the game. Fiercely competitive. Not winning a Cup is simply not an option. And you see what’s been going on around you for 10 years now.
Last year after Leon signed, I was convinced it would be an 8 year deal and that would be that.
Now? I’m thinking it’ll be 4 years at most. And really with how they’ve handled contracts in a cap world, I can’t blame him.
He says all the right things in front of cameras, but he’s a pretty smart cookie. He knows the game of hockey. And you have to think he’s asking himself “what the hell” with a lot of the deals signed over the last few years. And the handling of the goaltending position.
Anyway - will be interesting to see.

According to Bob Stan and Jackson have been in Ontario talking with McD.. so I'm sure they are running everything they are about to do through McD.. like who to punt.. and who to keep.. McD knows more about value of players than either of them.. and I'm sure he's been kept in the loop previously with transactions.. I get a sense McD is stubborn and will want to create his legacy with the Oilers.. and with Leon.. so fingers crossed.. 8 years ! :)
