I actually love increasing it to 84 games.
Also, the reason they did 84 games those 2 years in the 90s was to give each team 2 off site games in an effort to grow the game. We have seen some overseas games in recent years, but I wonder if we will see more off sight games in North America for a few years, since the NHL is talking about doing more expansion.
My opinion on that is low though. I think 32 teams is too many already. If you start bumping it up to 36 or even 40 teams eventually where is the incentive to be a fan? You know the likelihood of seeing your team ever win a championship in your lifetime is low to start with and it just keeps going down. That is actually one of the reasons I think I may follow the Oilers less once the McDavid and Draisaitl era is over. If I don't see a championship with those guys, what will it actually take?
