Time for an offseason thread?
Overall I think we have been pretty fortunate to have watch such good hockey over the last 4 years. The Oilers, for all their flaws, have been a really good team for a long time now. They might not have been the best team, but they could have won and I think came damn close 3 times. It's a shame they didn't cash one in, but the ride was worth it.

I agree. We’ve enjoyed 6 series wins the last 2 years. 3 games away from being back to back Cup champs. Don’t think that’s ever happened, or at least not in a long time.
And the roster actually wasn’t bad. We made it to the finals without record setting performances from our dynamic duo.
Other than mediocre/bad goaltending, I truly believe losing Hyman was about the worst thing that could have happened. He was one of our very best players through 2+ rounds. Add to that having Nuge break his hand just when he was playing some of the best hockey in his career. Those 2 injuries really hurt.
He was everyone’s favourite last year, myself included, but Ekholm was pretty bad in this year’s playoffs, his 6 points in 7 games aside. I get the Panthers were a better team, but our d actually looked better before he got back IMO.

I'm betting Ekholm was still injured.. originally a groin.. and that he never regained full mobility.. looked like he struggled to pivot to me..
Walman as well.. thought he had a LBI that limited him as well.. plus Klingburg still on the mend from almost 2 years off..
Hard to tell.. I'm sure stauffer will leak some Intel over the coming weeks..
