Why are people always saying this though? It's never Skinner's fault.
The guy at the other end does not let in every single high danger chance. He stops a crap ton of them on top of the ones he is expected to stop.
Pickard came in and stopped the ones he was expected to stop, and several high danger ones on top of that.
Skinner? I will admit he has not let in too many stinkers lately, but you just feel like any little breakdown, he's not bailing us out. We're fishing pucks out of the net.
Maybe the team plays differently in front of him. Maybe they don't. At the end of the day, the objective is to score more than the other team, and I believe Pickard gives us a much better chance to do that.

What we could say certainly about last nights game is that Knoblauch switched his netminders for an effect on the rest of the team, in much the same way the experts thought that De Boer had with Otter, but unlike the Stars we responded and came back and won the game.
Stu made some saves and to be fair none of the goals were down right down to him, if anything we perhaps should be wondering where Pickard was on the 4th goal, easily the worse of the 4 we let in. However, he saved us in OT and we won the game that's forgotten about.

I have some issues with Skinner goals. First one he again wasn't really making a proper effort to get a view of the play. Watch how slow he is to react to the shot and how little he moves before it. That's the low confidence version of Skinner where he's just praying stuff is gonna hit him all night. The second one, I'm not sure how a weak shot going right into his bread basket turns into a rebound that goes perfectly sideways out of his lap. Such a strange save attempt.
Third one was Stecher NUrse and the refs, not his fault. Wish he did his chip of the pass from behind the net again like he did before that own goal loss against Vegas. In this situation it would have helped him instead of chipping the puck away from his teammates. Oh well.
Think through this whole series Skinner has been in his frantic unpredictable mode of play. Not inspiring much confidence in his teammates at all. Slow reacting, flopping and falling and just hoping for luck to pull him through. Not the kind of solid goaltending we saw against Vegas and Dallas.
Think it's very reasonable to just stick with Pickard now. Especially with the game 4 Stu myth up in smoke.
