Is it time to start talking about running with Pickard into the playoffs.
He’s small, often out of position, but he makes the save and often gets teams to miss the net with hurried shots.
If we win out the week and Skinner returns to the crease, it’ll be a short leash.
On the verge of a goalie controversy which in the long run will be a good thing as it force a change. Both fight to be average knowing that’s all the Oilers need.

This might be the first back-to-back starts that Pickard's had all year where he hasn't got blown out completely in one of them. We're just a few days away from that dreadful second period against Seattle. I think it would be a little preliminary to suggest that he's stealing the top job away.
Not that Skinner sets a high bar, but running Pickard through the playoffs out of anything less than absolute necessity would be insanity.

It might just be another game of trying to figure out how to get Skinner into his high confidence mode. If we just kept playing Skinner last playoffs, we aren't talking about how we made the finals this year, we are pissed at how we choked against the Canucks and their 3rd string goalie (a goalie that ended up bombing this season to add some extra embarrassment). Even beating the Canucks, how we let that series go long really beat up our team, and IMO can be considered a big reason we didn't win the cup in the end. Drai kept taking more damage, Hyman got wrecked and never really recovered after that series, possibly even injuries he carried into this year, think Ekholm got beat up in that series too. McDavid and all our forwards were taking huge runs from that D group for 7 games. Some stinky goaltending and defensive play made that series go way longer than it should have.
Once again this season, think we will need to hope that Pickard can play some good games when Skinner is faltering to get Skinner's engine going again. Hope the org is taking goaltending seriously this summer. Also, if they do, hope we don't end up with another Campbell. Goalies that are prone to getting down in the dumps mentally will probably always have a very difficult time behind this group.

I do wonder if there are some strategies the team could use. If we're up 2-0 or 3-0, giving Skinner a night off would be unorthodox, but should the team consider it? Maybe.
