More than those 2 guys it seems basically everyone we discarded is having the time of their life somewhere else.
For me, basically from the start of the year this looks like a team being crushed by the expectations they have of them after the game 7 fail. Fastest way to separate yourself from that pressure was obviously to start fresh somewhere else. Staying here, sadly, an embarrassing playoff exit might be the easiest reset or even missing the playoffs. Just not feeling it from this team this season. No coach change to spark them is coming. Not even sure keeping any of the guys we let go would have helped all that much. None of them are actual world beaters and could be sucked into the same vortex of fragility that surrounds this group this year.
Hope I’m wrong but starting to think these guys need a major reset mentally. One that comes like when Tama got swept by the Bluejackets in the first round. Barely anyone on this team looks like they are enjoying themselves this season, even when we are winning. Oh. And we probably should finally take the goaltending position seriously in this org again. Would help a lot.

I think sometimes some adversity is a good thing for a team who people see as a contender or favourite. Even Florida last year looked for a while as a shadow of the team that went to the Finals the year before.
That said, our goaltending really worries me. And that's when everyone is healthy...

We have had an odd season. I think just chronic underperforming has been a theme all year long. A weak division and general parity let us be in most games and Drai being lights out was enough to put us over a lot of nights.
Florida last year I thought put a lot of focus on staying healthy and prepping their team for playoffs after injuries derailed their shot at a cup the year before. They pulled it off well. Won their division. Best goal differential in the league and they were pretty efficient at finishing teams off to have their healthy roster for the finals. They almost had an epic choke but being healthy helped them take it in the end. I hoped we would be doing the same this year but this season has been a painful struggle from game 1 and barely anyone has looked like themselves on this roster at any point this season.
