1 Cup

McLeod, I still don't get why we traded him. His speed, PKing and 5v5 stats were all very good. Fans singled him out as a scapegoat, but that was just typical fan emotional stuff.

Happens every year. Media pick a couple of scapegoats, as soon as there is a stretch of bad games the fans pile on.
Then those same players move on and the fans and media are wishing for that exact same player archetype would be in the lineup.

Is it just the curse of having 2 extremely high end players?

There is definitely something to this. Some players need to have the puck to feel involved and thus be more active, it can be a cycle for a lot of players. There is only so much possession to go around and McDavid/Draisaitl will soak a lot of that up from any wingers.

There is a also opportunity, and this applies to both of your two points I quoted. McLeod, Broberg, and Holloway were bound to produce more given more ice time, both 5 V 5 and PP. Whether it is lack of time on the ice or time with the puck, these guys were going to be further down the pecking order.
