The Edmonton Oilers have a muffin problem and it is almost assuredly a coached in and ineffective tactic.
All stats at 5v5 for defensemen:
Shots: 601 (next closest 544, average 430)
Goals: 24 (average 20.4)
S%: 3.99 (7th worst, average 4.73)

Interesting tweet from today. Definitely an issue - I hate the long weak point shot, especially unscreened. Nurse has been bad for this forever, and Ekholm wastes quite a few too. It does explain why we have so many games where we make the goalie look like superman...he's saving a lot of shots, but many lack quality.

LOL yeah Nurse is the worst.. its like he can't think of anything else to do with the puck.. goalie top of his crease looking at him.. no traffic in front.. weak muffin that either; 1) misses the net, or 2) sifts right into the goalie's bread basket .. either way its a turnover.
You'd think with such a weak shot the guy would practice in the off season.. like 500 shots a day.. until he improves.. never happens.
