Man its so obvious.. he's likely been on every PED there is.. from steroids (strength) to EPO (endurance).. the Capitals were linked to a major pro-sports PED supplier/doctor a few years ago (2010).. (the PED supplier was based out of Florida.. same as Ekblad's .. weird) .. The PED supplier (Thomas) was based in Florida.. he got caught.. one of the clients he supplied was a Capitals chiropractor Dr. Nagel.. supplier said athletes he provided PEDs to included Capitals players..

NHL didn't do an investigation.. although they said they did..

Capitals spokesman Kurt Kehl told SI that the team conducted a "brief investigation, but the more extensive investigation was led by the NHL and Dennis Cunningham." So not so thorough.

Meanwhile, the SI piece did offer a bit of guilt-by-association reporting on Nagel's steroid distribution:

"But unlike MLB or the NFL, the NHL does not test during the off-season, nor once the playoffs have started. (This week the Capitals are facing the Canadiens in an Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.) Polk County officials noticed that of the 10 FedEx and U.S. Postal Service labels for packages mailed in 2008 and '09 between Thomas and Nagel that law enforcement officials obtained in their investigation, eight are dated during the period when the Capitals were either in the playoffs or out of season, and one was dated the day before the end of the 2007-08 season."

Interestingly.. after the 2010 investigation Ovie went a couple years where his goals/points declined.. after the 2009/2010 season he went from 50+ goals a year to just 32G (2010/2011) and 38G (2011/2012) ??

Then .. "rebounded!" in 2012/2013 (after spending time in Russia playing in the KHL.. ).. where he "found his form again" .. ;)

Keep in mind Russia is the doping nation of all time (OK maybe CCP China is catching up).. currently banned from Olympics (based on Sochi Dope Lab scheme) and every major international sports federation because of it.. nothin' to see hear folks.. move along..

NHL should have targeted him for testing every year after that.. doubt they even include him in testing now.. afraid he'd pop (in fact they know he would).. it'd ruin the NHL brand.. plus Ovie is an NHL promotional feature now.. he's pretty safe.. a made man.

Similar thing happened with Lance Armstrong.. everyone in the sport knew he was cranking his brains out (literally).. more than anyone else.. but the governing sports body knew that having a US cycling star brought them millions in revenue.. which it did.. more than they could have even imagined.. they never even broadcast the Tour de France in North America live until Armstrong was winning.. now they've stopped any North America coverage altogether (except pay for view) and cycling is a tertiary sport again here. The UCI (cycling governing body) even covered up the tests that Armstrong popped positive on.. its all described in Armstrong's teammate Tyler Hamilton's book. Armstrong was gross.

Armstrong would have likely got away with it.. but he got greedy.. (couldn't help it.. he's an A-class narcisistic sociopath) came back out of retirement for more.. finally got popped.. lost all 7 Tour de France titles. Douche bag.
