I wouldn't want that contract that comes with him. Otherwise, pretty useful piece and if you're shedding an even worse contract, it becomes a lot more palatable.
Maybe that's the model for a future Nurse trade...

True, didn't factor in cap.. but Cozens would fit in well if he did fit in the cap.
My hope for Nurse was he could someday play as good as we just saw Walman play in that one game .. skate.. be smart.. nothing Norris-like.. just really good defense..
Only hope now is the cap goes to $150M and $9.25M looks small.. he's not getting traded.

Walman, Ekholm & Kulak all have another year on their deals. All are LHD. There should be a little concern on age - Ekholm is 34, Kulak 30 and Walman is 28, so all at least starting the back nine there, but otherwise that's a decent left hand side.
If you were to find a good RHD with a non-ideal contract with a lot of years left on it, and maybe a team that has a hole on the left side - then I think you have a potential trading partner. Nurse has a NMC, but if his role is likely to reduce here, he may consider waiving.
The issue is, even with a higher cap, that's a huge amount to spend on a guy who's not obviously your best LHD. I think the team has to be open to exploring how to improve the team even if it includes moving on from someone who was once considered to be foundational.
