Smart management from Carolina. Not to trade for him in the first place but to realize the sunk cost and trade him rather than sewer their cap for a mackinnon-less rantanen.
Ideally the contract with Dallas would have been a bit higher but this is still good news for oilers fans. Dallas is not a major threat.
