Yeah - that day sucked. I was out mowing the lawn, a kid with basically no money, but I did for some reason have a $20 in my pocket that day. Well - it fell out out my pocket and within seconds got shredded into a million pieces. As I stood there teary eyed because I just lost my small fortune, my best friend at the time came running over all to happy to give me the news.

I remember seeing it on the front page of the Calgary Sun and not being able to comprehend what was happening. Then we were playing road hockey and my goalie stick snapped in half and I just started bawling like a baby, A) because Gretzky being traded was akin to learning that death is a real thing and the innocence of youth was lost, B) we were extremely poor and I slept with that goalie stick. It was my best friend, my confidant, my most prized possession. And we had very little money so I knew I wouldn't be able to afford another for a longtime.
That was the worst 34th birthday in history...
I'm not wearing pants...
